It makes a great base for exploring this fascinating region. Near the Crown Estate of Glenlivet in the Cairngorm National Park there is pony trekking and walking.

Reindeer Cottage     near Aviemore

Traditionally built stone cottage in a remote setting just 3 miles north of Aviemore. Sitting room with wood burning stove (and guest bed), bathroom, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, double and twin (plus a guest bed). The house is mainly wood lined, extremely cosy, with all the facilities of Aviemore and Speyside close by. There is a Summer house and BBQ in the enclosed and secluded garden. Also there is an outdoor hot tub, sauna and plunge pool. Fantastic views of the Cairngorm mountains where the reindeer roam. Close by is a small loch, which can be fished on purchase of a permit and is also renowned for bird-watching. The cottage is owned and run by the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, so a free visit to the reindeer herd is included.

Einich, set in the village of Newtonmore 15 miles south of Aviemore, is a charming traditional detached granite house set in mature grounds with off road parking and accommodation over two floors. On the ground floor there is a sitting room, dining room, laundry room, kitchen and rear porch with W.C. On the first floor there are four double bedrooms (1 king size bed, 2 double beds and 1 twin bedroom), bathroom and a snug which has views over the golf course.

Broomieknowe Cottage is in a quiet position on the outskirts of Dulnain Bridge, between Grantown on Spey and Aviemore in the Cairngorms National Park. It offers self catering accommodation for 4 people after being completely refurbished in 2010; only the walls and roof are original!

To the rear of the cottage the River Dulnain can be seen through the trees, and to the front is a view across open fields and within a few minutes walk is the village shop, Riverside Restaurant, Tigh na Sgiath Hotel, and local garage.

In the surrounding area follow the whisky trail to a number of distilleries, or visit one of the many historic houses on offer. Cawdor and Brodie Castles well worth a visit. Coire Cas is situated on a corner site with a well laid out garden planted mainly with free-flowering heather. The private patio is to the rear and has its own patio furniture and views to the mountain.

The bathroom has bath, shower and vanity units and there is a separate WC with wash hand basin and vanity unit.
