Incredibly a wind speed of 194mph was recorded near the summit of the Cairngorms in 2009. Even more amazingly this is only 37mph less than the strongest wind speed EVER recorded anywhere in the world. Just shows you how insane the weather can get in the Scottish Highlands. Where did you read that? ...

bottom line, if the Head of the Cairngorm MTR has a go at the guy, then that’s good enough for me. And thus the witch~hunt perpetuates.... MRT members are self-appointed. I've never met any from Cairngorm MRT so cannot comment , but I have met those in another team, who left a lot to be desired reg...

Mammut have a couple of apps in the App Store. I use the safety one all the time and find it very accurate on altitude and 6 grid ref on GPS alone but you will still need a map etc...........gives loads of other useful info too. I'd take the one review it has with a pinch of salt, it's not failed me...
