Ben More (Mull)

Cath and I.

Later start 2pm in Summer. Met Office forecast foul conditions but they were wrong on this. Bit of rain on way up and cloud at summit but no snow and no wind. This was Cath's 100th munro!

Ben Vane

Left car park at 8.30am, followed path up the valley and past the substations before taking the second turning left over the bridge. No snow at ground level here. Cut up right just past quarry, the walk onto the ridge was very muddy and there had been a small landslip recently. Fairly straight forwa...

Beinn Tulaichean

Looked like weather would break as forecast when we arrived at back of 9. Nice walk in through the farm and round past the river before leaving path at the gate to walk up the slope. About halfway up we hit the snowline and at about the same time the cloud base dropped. My first time hill walking in...

Glas Maol

Awful conditions early this morning (saturday), debated driving back and going home to bed! Glad I didnt of course, although decided to turn around once on summit of first of what should have been 4 - 6 munros. Awful viz and strong winds / rain made it not much fun so will save other munros for a de...

buchaille etive beag

nice walk in before the ascent which goes up a well made path without difficulty, although steep. Path hits the bealach and I turned north to go up stob coire raineach, quite loose and a bit of snow but no difficulties. After that headed along ridge to stob dubh where there was quite some more snow ...

Re: Hill Fitness

I have found running has benefited me greatly, it has improved my CV fitness levels over the last 3 months and I am now quite comfortable spending a day in the hills. Obviously the muscle sets will differ slightly but we're not talking about leg muscles when we talk about CV, you only have one heart...

Re: Beauly to Denny power line

Hi there, I respect your opinion and Im genuinely not trying to wind you up but I totally disagree that the line is not necessary and I hope you dont mind my putting across a response to your opinion. The line is the most effective way of transmitting power from source to demand, sub sea cables woul...

Tarmachan Ridge

Left the visitor's centre at about 10.30am, nice but long walk in along the farm trcack running underneath and to the south of the ridge line. Weather was fine at setting out but as got closer to the emd of the ridge, where I made my ascent, south of coire fionn-lairige the cloud cover dropped lower...

Re: Ben Vorlich...Loch lomond is so stunning

hey the photos came out great thanks. Great weather too, love the way it changes from sunny to hill fog and back in a matter of minutes.

Will have a look at the ridge another time but had to get back for the pub and a party with the dive centre.

Re: Ben Vorlich...Loch lomond is so stunning

Hi Doogz, think it was me and a group of 3 women following me up that you saw taking the steep route. Came down the path way but the steep way was more fun!!

Ben Vorlich

Missed (obvious) path up from near the reservoir. Took fairly striaght up assent, some nice rocky bits to have a scramble around and over. Caves near the top, not sure how safe as look like a lot of rock falls inside. Bit of a long slog along the top and a bit disappointing once you get up there but...
