Re: My first year living on the Isle of Skye :)

Wonderful pics. ....I suppose if you live there you can pick your time. Is there a downside to living the dream? if not, we don't want to know. BTW, your location is still Glasgow next to your avatar....so I think it IS just a dream. Yeah I gotta work 4 day per week Mon-Thur! But I get to viist pla...

Re: Exploring the Outer Hebrides - Summer 2019

I think I have photos of most of those places, but 75% are in the RAIN while we didn't climb hills but drove around checking out the scenery. The other 25% of mine are pictures of washing lines with the clothes horizontal and empty nice beaches because of the gales....but again, living so near you ...

Exploring the Outer Hebrides - Summer 2019

So I'd never been to the Outer Hebrides but I was now living on Skye which meant easy access from Uig :). I'd entered the Heb 30 (3) event which is run any 3 of the 5 Island Half Marathons. I ran Stornoway first, which Polly & Theresa flew up from Glasgow to run. We walked up Clisham the evening...

My first year living on the Isle of Skye :)

I used to log my reports regularly on here but times change, for me it was moving to the Isle of Skye exactly one year ago. Being surrounded by mountains and such beautufil scenery I didn't feel the need to relive my outdoor activities anymore! So I'm just posting some photos of the last year which ...

Re: Corran Meet day 2: Ardgour by bike

Awesome cycle eh :D I absolutely love this route! I've also started at Lochailort Station and going clockwise, however the start from Ardgour is more pleasing :) That walk is pretty spectacular, especially nearing the finish and looking to the Isles :) Well done on getting so much done in daylight :...

Superlative Skye - A Sgurr na Stri Spectacular :)

As per usual my destination for adventure is left to the very last minute, I like to chase the sun you see :) Skye looked to have a four day window of good weather 8) So I booked this very affordable (£122 for 5 days) ensuite room near Broadford - https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/18654214?location=Wat...

Moidart Treble - A West Highland Wander :)

Previously traversed these 3 Corbetts in winter with friends, a much shorter route starting with an ascent of An Stac. Today I chose the longer route as described on this site. Much like before the wind was pretty ferocious, at times I found it difficult to keep on my feet! However plenty opportunit...

Narrow ridge, Cave, & Swim - A Lake District Bonanza :)

Six years ago a group of us walked these hills in Winter, finishing with views of a spectacular sunset :) However today would be a summer solo traverse followed by a drive to Rydal to visit the caves and finish my day with a nice swim in Rydal water. I'd chosen the Lakes as the weather was looking b...

Sunny Midweek Double Delight :)

Glencoe truly is magnificent but it can be very crowded, especially on weekends! Thankfully I have days off during the week so I set off one Thursday in blazing heat to walk the iconic Big Bookil - Stob na Broige (Buachaille Etive Mor) Stob Dearg (Buachaille). On arrival the car park wasn't too bad ...

Roque Noblu & More - Hot Hiking in Gran Canaria!

Back in early May Fiona and I booked a week in Gran Canaria for the 1st week in June with the intent of exploring some of its mountains & walking trails. We had booked a rustic stone cottage high in the mountains near the centre of the island in Aberjales. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/3937189?...

Arresting Ardnamurchan - The Picturesque Peninsula!

It was birthday time again, which meant an extended adventure :) I usually head for Assynt, however this year a booking was made for a hiking trip abroad to Gran Canaria with Fiona. We had already spent a wonderful few days in Assynt back in April, so we took a punt on the Scottish weather being hor...
