Sir Jimmy of Saville, denizen of Glen Coe and much-loved raiser-of-squillions-for-charity, has died. Sad news indeed.

That is indeed sad news (as it happens). Especially for those of us of a certain age. Good guy and splendidly eccentric.

Yep, good bloke all round. Many of us are now getting to the age when the icons of our youth are starting to pass away.

Too true but we have to keep pushing at the limitations.
Jimmy would often pop into the Manchester city centre pub that I waited on at during the 60s. Sad news indeed.
I believe he used to own that little remote white bungalow on the pass of Glen Coe.

Very sad news to hear this - a true eccentric with the ability to make people smile. Jimmy was also the star of my favourite viral outdoors advert:

Sir Jimmy was such an influential figure to my generation. Forget an Olympic gold, we all wanted a Jim'll Fix It medalion, so much cooler than a Blue Peter badge.

Rest In Peace Jimmy.

Now then, now then. I'm sitting here at the kitchen table and all I can here from the TV through the lounge is that X Factor drivel that passes for prime-time Saturday night entertainment these days. And my mind is cast back to the halcyon days of my youth. No comparison. No argument. No justice. I sometimes worry for my little girl - when she is my age, who will be the icons of her youth? At the moment, it would appear that Iggle Piggle is in pole position. Not ideal, but it could be worse. A lot worse. I hope she will have some half decent icons to take with her on her journey, as many of mine begin, as has been said, to leave us. Sad news indeed. RIP.

yeah, R.I.P sir Jimmy of the Saville :( will always remember meeting him up at fort william highland games , where he did the Ben run, he came back down covered in cuts and bruises , dripping with blood, but with a huge smile on his face, and no doubt soon after, lit up a huge cigar 8)

only met him once
I caughted the sleeper train as it passed through Crianlarich one morning , normally us plebs sit in the seated carriage but that day the seated coach was unheated so we were asked to sit in the lounge of the sleeper carriage

Jimmy Saville was there
I recognised him , but I much preferred to talk to another passenger who was more interesting, this guy worked on security at Faslane and was talking about his canine companion and what the dog was trained to do to intruders .
I am too old to be bothered by celebrities..

Some other passengers were talking to Jimmy Saville but mostly about walking John o Groats to Lands End

I guess that day Jim never fixed the heating , otherwise he could have had a more peaceful journey north

One day i was walking in Glencoe and we came upon the white house on the corner of the Pass where Jimmy lived. A coach load of tourists had stopped outside the house and were all taking photos!! Just then Jimmy himself popped out and waved at us all!! He was wearing a bright green tracksuit. I clearly remember the cheers that went up - it quite made everyones' day.

I heard he also used to serve pints in the Clachaig Inn from time to time. I have never been there so wouldnt know for sure.

One of the good guys, the world is the poorer for his passing
