WH SPRING Meet - Update/chat

As we are now only 6 weeks away from the first "BIG" meet of the year I decided to start a new thread in an effort to minimise the number of vehicles heading north and clogging up the single track roads

I appreciate that some folk will want to take their own vehicle no matter what and keep their independence, however for those of us who are more than happy to car share the plan is to somehow get our collective heads together - from all over Scotland and further afield

If participants could indicate where they are travelling from and if they have any spare seats, along with possible walking intentions I will endeavour to try and link up attendee's  I understand walking plans may change and final arrangements can be sorted out once we arrive. Parking won't be a problem in Durness but may be at the start of the walks.

I will be leaving SW Fife early on Friday morning with my co-pilot Martin (mg1976) and have one spare seat.

Planning to tackle Arkle & Foinaven.

Was going to do a little list but the forum doesn't give you the facility to create legible columns :(

There's going to be a convoy along the single track roads

I'm Ayrshire (north MrsR tells me). I'm hoping to get me up overnight Thursday/Friday morning and climb something on the Friday on the way up (as yet unknown where exactly, or how big :? ). I have three spare seats and a large boot

Looks like Arkle and Pal could be busy on the Saturday

I plan to leave Forfar at a ridiculous hour on Saturday and climb Ben Wyvis on the way. Other than that, I'm easy and more than happy to fall in with others plans up there. I've absolutely nothing in the far north as yet.

Depending on weather forecast might go early or leave a day later, but priority are the Corbetts as many as I can, and maybe the odd Graham. Will hope to pick something up on both journeys as well.

Basscadet and myself will be driving up from the capital on Thursday night, stopping somewhere en route for the night, then finishing the journey on Friday morning. We intend to walk somewhere on Friday but no plans as to where yet.

P.S. I hope you are all revising your mountain and general knowledge  .

General knowledge is OK, not sure about mountain knowledge, can't pronounce them let alone recognise them

I will spend the overnight 8-9 April in Inverness and I am planning to start moving to the North by public transport (train+post bus)early Thursday and probably to spent night in Kinlochbervie for the Sandwood Bay walk. I would be happily join somebody who is in this area at that time and who has the room for me and my 1.5 kg new tent :)

Title changed due to lack of response

Wondering what time everybody is estimating arriving?
I/We are leaving Fife at 6.30am and the AA reckons it will take me 6hrs 31mins to drive the 258 miles, so I would guesstimate arriving between 3 & 4pm after a few stops
Was hoping to nip up Fionn Bheinn on the way but that will have to wait for another day :(

You having a lie in then Martin

I'm actually in Manchester on the Thursday, training home that afternoon, so not ideal preparation for a long drive. My plan (which could be subject to change of course) is to drive up overnight thursday/friday morning, park up and catch a snooze before a Corbett or two.

Then pitch the tent, sniff a beer and fall asleep

I'm on holiday from Easter and have a free pass. Got a plan in the works for 11 corbs and a few grahams starting in poolewe on good Friday and hopefully arriving at Sango sands on Thu using public transport and a bit of shoe leather. Ben Deargs (fisherfield), suilven, stac pollaidh all on radar. Weather dependent though. Happy to do whatever at the meet.

I can't seem to spot the actual dates of the meet, or where exactly... I will be in the Highlands all April and have lots of space in the van.
