Making posts private

Postby kabu1 » Tue Sep 09, 2014 9:27 pm

Hi
I love the 'My Walks Blog' but even though I tick the box to make my entries private they still seem to appear in the Walk Reports Scotland forum. How do I stop this happening.

Sorry for asking this very basic question. I tried to search for the answer but couldn't find one.

I've had a look and can't see your most recent post in the forum - could it be that you still see them because they're still visible to you, even though others don't? Have you tried logging out and looking?

Apologies if this is a daft question and you have :)

Hmmm this does seem strange.

You are right enough Nigheandonn, if you click his Kabu1's username all you see is a list of the hills with the message that it is marked as private, but if you then click 'Search' you can see all the posts in the Walk Report forum which I don't think should be the case.

Searching finds any posts anywhere on the site.

Walk diary posts don't appear on the Walk Reports forum or on the hill pages or walk route pages, but anyone can still read them by visiting the person's walk diary/blog page - or by searching for them.

As it says next to the box that has been ticked "It will still be visible to all users on your walks diary but will not appear on the Walk Reports boards, or on mountain pages when viewed by other users."
