Woke up at 7am, looked not too bad a day so decided to get up, get organised and go tackle Glas Tulaichean and Carn an Righ.
Truble started getting excited as soon as the boots came out. Headed off out the door to catch the 8.55am bus to spittal.

Arrived around 9.45am at the Hotel (weather wasn't too good by now, had already started to rain!!) and could see some patches of fog higher up.

Not to worry we thought and started the 2k walk up the Dalmunzie Drive

After approx 30 mins walking we reached the sign that points you in the direction of Glas Tulaichean, which took us through a couple of fields before reaching the old railway track - the path was boggy in places but much easier than the other path which would of had us crossing a swollen stream 3 times!!

Reached the Glenlochsie Lodge in about another 20 mins and decided to stop here for a wee cuppy.

There was some sort of giant birds nest in the rafters of the Lodge (maybe an eagle we thought)!!

10 mins later we were back on track ready to start our climb - fog had started to come in now and we werent able to see much of the path ahead.

Bumped into a couple on their way down, stopped for a chat and they said the fog was that thick up top that they were unable to find the path that took them to the cairn.

Seemed to take forever to reach the end of the track near the summit becaucse we could see nothing but we reached it eventually - managed to reach the cairn with the help from our map.

Nothing to see

After a cuppy and much consideration we decided it best not to tackle Carn an Righ and headed back down the track.

After about 15 minutes of walking back down to meet the LandRover track I suddenly thought to myself it was taking rather a long time to reach it - I shouted to Ryan that i think we have took a wrong turn somewhere but he was sure we hadnt and said we'd walk another 5 mins to see if we would meet it, but we didn't. We turned round and headed back up to see if we could find where we went wrong, we then remembered that as we left the track to reach the summit that the track actually carried on back down the hill in the opposite direction but the fog was that thick that we couldn't see it turning left. Nevermind we were back on track with not too much time lost.

Met another 2 groups of walkers on their way up.
Apparently there was a group of another 12 up there but we never seen a sole - not even a bird.
Was still a lovely walk although we couldn't see anything up there.

Took 1 more picture near the end of the Dalmunzie driveway looking back and not a bit of fog insight.

Looking back

Arrived back at the spittal of glenshee hotel around 3pm had an hour to wait for the bus so grabbed a seat on the wall and watched some of the Cateran Yompers arriving at 1 of their checkpoints. Who had left Blairgowrie at 7am that morning and we thought that they must of been some of the first to arrive but later found out that the winner completed the 54 mile 24 hour walk in 14.5 hours!!!!! Not too bad at all

Hi Monty,

Thanks!! That hill just seems to have it in for us i think!!
We have been up it before but unfortunatly had to turn back just before we reached the top as as the rain and wind was absolutly horrendous. Bet you never know we nip up it again when we are up there doing the surrounding ones!

Truble is a jackadoodle just turned 5 months old..... Whats your chaps name? He must have a good few under his collar.

Just been reading some of your reports............ cracking reports, you must get around!!
We dont drive unfortunatly at the moment (soon hopefully though) so makes it a litte more difficult to get the hills especially here where the buses we want are few and far between.

Wilson the Beardie. He seems to be well known on WH. He has done 30+ corbetts and 140+ Munros. He seems to live for the outdoors. Getting a bit of cabin fever now as he has not made it to the hills for 3 weeks.
