After being up the hills all winter beating and having Mount Blair staring us in the face every day we decided that when the better weather came in we would climb it.

Well the day eventually came, up we got - got our bag packed and headed off for the bus. Weather wasnt great but it wasnt horrendous either.

Arrived at Blacklunans road end and started off on our hike. After walking for about 15 mins on the tarmac road we reached the farm track which we had to take. Fortunatly we know the area well from working for the whitehouse estate during the shooting season so we knew exaclty where we were going

After reaching Coldrachs house we took a right following the track which took us to a gate - the start of our ascent.

After a short 5 min break we decided not to take the route said in the book which was to go right and headed off to the left and then straight up. (Must say the going was alot easier than in the middle of January when we were running around the hills chasing the pheasants with snow up to our waist!!!!)

It must of took us about 25/30 mins to get over the first hill to the start of the climb on Mount Blair - heather was quite tall and bushy in places so truble was having difficulties and hitched a lift with ryan for the rest of the climb.

15 mins later we got our first glimpse of the mast that sits on top.

The wind had now appeared from no-where and the rain was getting heavier and we could tell from the big rocky patches ahead we had some scrambling to do, nevermind onwards and upwards and in no time at all we had made it to the summit. The wind was howling and we could barely stand straight. We jumped into the wee stone shelter had a very quick cuppy took a few pics and then ran back taking a different route over a hill we call craggs!!

Bumped into a herd of about 80 deer who had obviously heard us before we even seen them as they were already looking at us as we came into sight. Unfortunatly the camera batteries had ran out by now so couldnt get a pic.

Passing drumore Loch we seen people trying to locate ospreys. But they think that they have re-located due to trees having been harvested!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for that. Aye not a bad wee hill. Some really good views up there and it was a nice little warm up hill for the dog as it was her 1st.

Aye,dogs and hills, know a bit about that, our Bearded is a bit of an expert. He has done quite a few in his 3.5 years.

The better half is now on the look out for a new pup to keep him company.
