Parked the car in car park at start of Alva Glen.
We walked up path and steps as if going to Alva Glen, under old water pipe and across to the gate on right leading to open hillside. The footpath climbs diagonally up the slope and reaches a well made track that zig zags up the hill. We took the track leading off this on the left and climbed up above Alva Glen. Great views already, up the glen and over Clackmannan back to Stirling. When the track goes over its highest point on the Gowls, and drops back down there is a path on the right taking you up the Nebit. we followed it up to the top.
- The path up to top, looking back down with Alva in background.
A bit windier up here but staying clear despite clouds building all around us.
- Looking over towards River Forth, bridges and Longannet Power Station from the top.
- Looking up Alva Glen to Bengengie
- Ben Cleuch just coming out of the clouds
After having a look round and taking photos, we moved further north and down out of the wind to have lunch.Once done we kept walking down the steep slope heading towards the burn where it crosses the track going up Alva Glen.
The waterfall is just over the track where the burn plunges over the edge of the glen down to Alva Burn. We went over for a look. I went down to see if we could ford Alva Burn and walk back down the glen, but it would be tricky for Isabel,
so went over to waterfall for a closer look then climbed back up to the track.
- The Spout close up on my way back up to track.
We walked back to where we left it earlier and then back to the car. A quick walk as we didn't have a lot of time to spare, but enjoyable all the same.
