Dear All
Julia (elder daughter) and I have been staying at Ullswater in the Lake District. She's a teacher so is on half term and I had a few days holiday to use up :D The plan was for Julia to do a bit of walking and, for me, a bit of photography. That was providing the weather played it's part
Sunday the weather was thick fog once we hit the county boundary on the A66; fog lights blazing front and back and me driving at less than 40mph and I was wondering whether the forecast, yet again, was going to be wrong
Do not fret, after lunch at Whinlatter, I headed for Ullswater via Dockray. Oooooweeeeee! What wonderful light, mist and reflections on the lake. I found a parking place (there are several conveniently at intervals along the road) which gave access to the shore. There was even a new wooden handrail to guide me down the stone steps and, a very large stone to help me onto the gravel :D Julia opted to read in the car  Meanwhile, I carefully pottered along the lakeshore taking photos until the light had faded too much.
Monday dawned bright, but with drizzle, however, there'd been a promise of better things to come. Julia was going to do a short walk round Hallin Fell and then up to the top for a view whilst I drove into Martindale and Boredale. The afternoon saw me back at the same car park for more photos. Then, another couple of stops and forays down to the lakeshore. All this was quite difficult walking but, taking things carefully I had a great time. Particularly, with walking boots on, and, of course, my sticks, I was able to splash along in the water, duck under a few branches and get to some good places for the photos
P.S. For those who don't know, I'm ambulant disabled and can't walk that far. Also, some of you will have seen the debate on WH about photos being posted. Firstly, I'm not a walker now, hope that I can be called a photographer and so, do use the tools of that trade. I have a Nikon D60 DSLR, an entry-level camera. I do sometimes use filters, have 3 different lenses and use Photoshop Elements for some processing. However, my philosophy is, if I have to do much post processing then I discard the photo.

Superb Susie  We also had to drive through bad fog on Sunday en route to Ben Chonzie, then ended up with fab views until the last 50m. Didn't quite get as good photos as these though

Great photos Susie. I've been along that road by Ullswater many times and I reckon I've stopped at the same spot for a picnic with the family once.

My attempt at reflections were not this good. Good reason for another picnic. :)

Thank you, glad you liked them. There are a few really good places to stop along that road, but, the one I intended heading for was closed for repairs
