Hello folks and welcome to another round of cogitation and deliberation for Februarys
Webtogs walk report winners. I'm on the back of a rare two day backpacking trip in the
Brecons where snow was a distant memory and my spring summer camping gear was packed rather than the alpine stuff. Looking at the reports on here though and I've been reminded that there was a winter (finally!) with some stunning snow shots. It's always a tough cookie judging the walk highlands submissions but this month there were a couple of reports that stood tall for me.
In reverse order we have
A tribute to my father by
dogplodder. Family means a lot to most folk and the description of a hill now climbed by four generations of the same family after the loss of her father made this report particularly poignant. Reading about the love of hills getting passed down and his grandson Jonathan getting introduced to his first Graham left a good feeling. I know that when I head to the hills, memories always come flooding back of special times shared with folk I have loved. This report stirred real feelings in me as well as others from the reaction. Seeing the responses and the kindness the Walk Highlands community made to this post also moved me as much as it also obviously meant a great deal to dogplodder too. A real treasure of a story to have shared - thank you.
The winner for me however was
Braeriach in Winter by
The_Mountain_goat. Pictures usually tell a story better than words but this report stood out for me for the quality of the writing. Poetic words combined with photos that did an amazing job of backing up the description of the vastness and remoteness of the Cairngorms made this a stand out report. Glad to see that someone else also rates Haribo as a great trail mix for energy too
Really looking forward to more reports!
Noteworthy mentions need to go to
There is always hope ............. Ben Challum,
Buachaille Etive Mor,
Weekend "break" – a "trip" report which were also in the mix for a podium finish and just missed out.
So there we have it for another month. Have fun in the hills wherever you go, enjoy the remainder of the snow and if you are looking to refresh your outdoors wardrobe for spring, check out our rather
delectable range of Keen to keep your feet moving like a mountain goat.
