Making my way back to the car park alond the stream. i spotted a funny wee bird flying from perch to perch and bobbing up and down. Turns out it was a Dipper.

On my way home i nipped up the Lomond Hills. Spotted a pair of owls on the prowl on Monday afternoon but didn't have my camera with me (i cannot put into words my frustration at this) and been back up trying to find them. No joy with the owls, but i did spot a brown hare which was too fast for my camera and a couple of roe deer.

You know, i did find myself wondering how ptarmigan would be in a pie. Ptasty perhaps?

The pair on the wall weren't shy. I got within about 20 feet of them and loitered for a good half hour watching and photographing them before i left them

I knew a bloke who used to shoot them in the Cairngorms. He said they were a bit tough and stringy. It didn't stop him shooting them though, he boasted of killing dozens in a day. Last I saw him he was moaning that there were hardly any ptarmigan around these days - we fell off our barstools laughing at him, he really couldn't figure it out!
