Hello from Germany :-)

Hello from Germany :D ,

we are planning our first journey to Scotland in September 2012. We are two adults and our 3-year-old daughter.

Our route....

Newcastle - Melrose - Edinburgh (2 nights) - Newtonmore/Cairngorms (2 nights) - Portree/Skye (2 nights) - Lewis/Harris (3 nights) - Ullapool - Inverness (1 night) - Balloch/Loch Lomond (3 nights) - Newcastle

We are looking for walks (Cairngorms, Skye, Lewis/Harris, Loch Lomond) that are suitable with a baby buggy.

Sorry, if my English is not so good - years ago that I learned it at school :-)

Thank you very much for your help!

With love
Almut

Harris has lovely beaches on the west side, at Horgabost and Luskentyre; also an ancient church in the south at Leverburgh with medieval stone carvings of knights in armour. Lewis has the standing stones at Callanish, the broch at Dun Carloway and secret little coves and beaches (don't go paddling, the currents can be very dangerous. On Skye Glen Brittle beach is nice, and a trip to the coral beaches is good in nice dry weather but if wet it gets too muddy. The castles at various points (Dunvegan, Armadale, Dun Sgaith, Duntulm, etc) are interesting; Dunvegan and Armadale cost money to get in, the others are just ruins.

Also note - we drive on the left here in Scotland, so on a single-track road you pull into a passing-place on the left, or wait on the left if you are beside a passing-place on your right. Please do not veer across onto the right to get into a passing-place, as the other driver will be aiming for it too!
