Victoria bridge to Loch Dochard

I'm planning to park at victoria bridge and cycle up to loch dochard to camp for the night. I know you have to cross the river via the stepping stones but there's no way my other half will follow! Am I right in saying that the bridge further along is still out of use? Any other way of crossing without 'boots off'?. If anyone has done this route this year I'd be interested in your views? There are lots of reports on the www from people who have done this route but that was before the bridge gave way:)

Was up there 2 weeks ago and paddled across one part and used bridge further up. Surprised at how low water level was.
