This is a great wee walk & a good introduction to the paths & grades used in the Cicerone guide of Mont Blanc Walks, of which this is number 17.

The walk starts at the car park just before the Mont Blanc tunnel entrance & is at 1270 meters

A very good track takes you to the Chalet de Cerro & fords the stream running down from the glacier. This being the French Alps they have built a bridge next to it.

From there the track becomes a path & zig zags its way up the mountain side. Directly above is the Aiguille du Midi, where we are headed on Wednesday.

The path comes close to the edge of the moraine to give you a sneak preview before moving away back into the woods. You then emerge at the moraine glacier junction & it is amazing to see. We had a picnic & spent an hour there before heading back down.
