Headed through Chamonix & further up the valley towards the Swiss boarder stopping in a small place called La Tour. Situated at about 1400 meters. From here a short cable car ride followed by a chair lift means you arrive at 2195, just below the Col de Balme. After a short level walk we were at the marker stone of the French/Swiss boarder. I had chosen this walk as the troupes were a bit restless & wanted another day at the lake not walking, but the promise of a chair lift followed by a short walk with practically no ascent had chilled them out. Additionally we were going to top out on an actual mountain, all be it small in comparison to what else is around & its location means you are at the head of two valleys with views all the way down the Chamonix valley on one side & The Swiss Rhone on the other. The guide book also describes the last part of the walk as a narrow arete which requires 'good equipment'. The walk did not disappoint in any way & the arete reminded me of the little AE. :D

Another beauty jonny, glad you convinced the family to head into the hills again, these are stunning. Looks to be a good avalanche waiting to fall on that 4th from bottom shot  surprised to see so few other folks around, its always better that way though  :D

Having only seen the alps from the air, your reports want me to see them at eye level :)
