River Don

River Don

Just been out and about along the River Don near the Donmouth. The seals were out in force today and the resident Heron was wading around by the Bridge of Don.

Sorry it's slighty out of focus, I was using a 300mm zoom facing into the wind on the Bridge of Don and then it flew off seconds after I took this photo

Lazy seals - even when the tide is in, they still sleep on the sandbank here

The Bridge of Balgownie with ducks to give it a "wildlife" feel :D

No waders, just a good camera and knowledge...

You know the houses on the hillhead side, go down their private road to the donmouth path that comes out by Lidls and there are steps down to the riverbank. I'll try put a photo up later of the spot from the bridge.

There you go BC.

I kept thinking how suspicious it must look of me hiding in the trees taking photos of a popular student walkway

That big arrow and Here sign must be handy for finding your way around! ;)

BTW how far up river was this from the sea? I don't know the area, but it doesn't look very "coastal" so the seals look a bit out of place.

That's about 1km directly in from where the River Don meets the North Sea.

And yes, that big arrow and sign is very handy  Although basscadet must have missed it last time she was there.
