After our last few lucky days with the weather, it was now changing so we decided on a shorter walk today. Skye was on the agenda as none of us had ever walked on Skye. We chose Belig and Garbh-bheinn as our first taste of Skye, waiting till 2pm before starting as it was supposed to clear in the afternoon, it didn't. We set off from the waterfall following the stream up, unfortunately we followed it too far and couldn't cross it so decided to leave the Graham and just do the Corbett. We then made our way over to Garbh-bheinns ridge where a path led up to 489mark then continued to the scree and rocky sections. The weather was not good and it was slippy at times and 5mins from the summit Jimmy slid down the scree and though he did not get injured, apart from a few scrapes, he had torn his boot. Mo was also not happy with the conditions and Jimmy shouted up that they would just wait for me there. I continued up and had a wee slide myself at a little down climb just before the summit when my rucksack caught so i took it off then carried on over the 10 metre narrow ridge taking extra care with the high winds and slippy terrain. I took a quick photo of the summit before returning to Jimmy and Mo. Jimmy and Mo did say if they were on a Munro they would have continued but they've just not caught the Corbett bug yet and i don't think Mo ever will as she claims the ones shes done have been harder than her Munros. This was my 99th Corbett and i had the 100th planned for the following day, hence the reason i carried on.

Garbh-bheinn is a cracker :D Shame about the clag... I think it's the best viewpoint to the Cuillin Ridge. Just to tease a bit, here is what you missed...

Good stuff JC though bad luck with the weather. Thought things were going to go badly wrong with the tumbles, glad they didn't. I'll bet you are itching to get to the ton now :D

Well done JC!

I assume you're planning to head back to Skye ASAP. :D

I'm heading back in September and hopefully get similar conditions to those we had in April.

Here's the view we got from Bla Bheinn
