Shrews are cute things to watch. This one we photographed on the cliffs of Portsoy, last Sunday. It was busy lurking in the grass and it didn't even notice us bending over and taking photos

Field voles dont seem to mind you having a good nosey either.. which is a bit odd, because they must be well hunted wee creatures.. :?

They may look cute but they taste bitter, like slug-juice. Did you know that the Common European Red-Toothed Shrew is the only venomous mammal? (Get bitten by one and your finger will swell up.Assuming it bit your finger in the first place). Unless of course you count the Duck-Billed Platypus, which scientists are now considering reclassifying as a dinosaur. It's a funny old life.
