Fan Nedd
Ascent 212m
Distance 3.31km
Time 1.30hrs
My partner`s Grandson Keigan wanted to climb a hill with us. So I decided to do a couple of short walks. The hills I chose were Fan Nedd and Fan Llia. The weather forcast was good. The sun was shinning as we set out to do our first hill. We parked the car a mile or so north of Ystradfellty grid ref SN923196 at the foot of Fan Nedd. We were greeted with a view of a valley shrouded in cloud.
- The view that greeted us at the start of the walk.
- Keigan setting out on his first hill.
- Pen y Fan & Corn Du on the horizon.
The sky was clear as we made our way up to the summit and the views started to open up as we climbed.
- Heading up Fan Nedd
On reaching the summit cairn Keigan placed a stone on the cairn.

We made our way to the trig point where we had a break for coffee and to enjoy the views.

- Fan Gyhirych from Fan Nedd.
- This was the view that was hidden by cloud at the start of the walk.
Now we made our way back down to the car and on to our next hill.
Fan Llia
Ascent 274
Distance5.10km
Time 2.00hrs
We parked the car in the carpark at Blaen Llia grid ref SN927165.
- Keigan at the start of his seconed hill.
You cross the Afon Llia via a footbridge at the start of the walk. As you start to make your way up the path you come to a sty and another footbridge. Once you cross this footbridge it becomes a little boggy in places and you have a few small gullies to hop over as you climb. You can just make your way up to the summit or you can follow the path, but I have to say it`s a bit muddy in places and slippery. As you gain height the path does becomes easier and grassier. On reaching the summit we had another break for coffee and somthing to eat.

Now making our way back down to the carpark where Keigan wanted to cool his feet in the river. For his first couple of hills he did really well and is looking forward to his next walk in the hills.
