Snow on Cairngorms

Snow on Cairngorms

Am planning on doing Ben Macdui tommoro - I have plenty of walking and navigation experience but zero winter walking experience. Is the current snow on the tops likely to cause any difficulties? Ta!

What side are you doing it from?
If you have warm gear, a map and a compass...and the knowledge of how to use them you should be ok. There is no real drops unless you get lost!

None of that is steep, so should be ok.
I'd expect, some ice on top of Macdui though.
The route above the corries at Cairngorm would be a nice end to the day.

The top 100-200m of the plateau had a light covering by the end of today thanks to frequent snow showers, which we could see from above Glenshee. Nothing too serious though - I've attached a couple of pictures which show the snow.

MWIS forecasts a dry day tomorrow along with bright sunshine, so I'd expect that most of it would have melted by the afternoon.
