Just wanted to make you aware about this great offer...if you subscribe a year to Trail magazine (50 Pounds per year) you will get the Primus stove (currently 75 Pounds on Amazon) for free.
http://www.greatmagazines.co.uk/store/displayitem.asp?sid=3470&id=53908 ...makes maybe a good christmas/birthday present.

Remember to read the small-print on the TRAIL offers. They usually have a clause where the gift is only given when the subscription is taken with a direct debit arrangement. Get out the magnifying glass and you notice your offer is based on 3 successive yearly subscriptions by DD.

I get my TRAIL subscription yearly and pay by cheque...

...They sent me an exped drybag pack by mistake one year, thinking I was one of their valued DD customers.

Of course they may well have come over all kind and generous of late.

Where does it say about 3 successive direct debits? It looks to me like it is a minimum of 12 months?

I once got sent a fish tank pump for some reason by mistake... I don't even have a fish tank?!

It doesn't...

...I was using an example from a few years back when I was considering their "lovely gifts".

This offer appears to be for a straightforward years subscription.

However the current subscription is £5.00 more than the amount I've just paid for my yearly subscription (without gift).

I'd surmise that if you are a new customer and choose to take the gift, then you'll find your paying that £5 extra for however many years you choose to subscribe.

I'm sure there are a variety of different tarriffs for subscriptions depending on when you first took up their offer.

Truth is your "free gift" is actually costing you a fiver this year and the next and the next!

Ah ok :-)

I just take out a new subscription each year when there is a decent free gift and cancel after 12 months :)
