Having written and re-written this report many times the words will never do it justice. Suffice to say, I spent Monday climbing 'The Ben' (my first ever time) and Tuesday climbing Mullach nan Coirean and Stob Ban. Given that the extra two days were tagged on to a Winter Skills Course at Glenmore nine weeks ago, how lucky was I with the weather?! 8)

I hope the photos capture something of the two exillarating days....enjoy!

As if the above conditions weren't good enough, Tuesday 11th proved to be every bit as good with absolutely no wind :D - 0900 start and 1630 finish

Weary, exhausted but exhilarated, I returned to the youth hostel and those few of us present, shared our amazement at the good fortune we had over the previous two days. Alas, Wednesday saw a return home but plenty of memories, not least Ben Nevis  How many get to see the summit on a day like that....or get to see anything on the summit at all

Thanks for your comments Morag, Graeme, Tomyboy, BoyVertiginous, Lenore, Skuk007 and Tomsie.

I tried not to be too smug, BoyV, but it wasn't easy 8)

As for the stoneage type structure, Tomyboy, I haven't a clue what it is. Do any of you locals have any idea? While we're at it, how do you get into the emergency shelter when it's in that condition?

Not one of my best poses Tomsie. I got a bit carried away, what with the ice axe being a new purchase

Believe it or not, after nearly 50 summits this year, Mon and Tue were the first that gave any decent views at all. Just when you think it will never happen, you get your reward for the days in the mist and clag :D

Thanks Fudgie, thanks Sarah. Yes incredibly lucky that my very first ascent of the great mountain should enjoy such fantastic views and conditions. Still waiting on info as to what the 'stonehenge' type structure is :?
