Just saw this on the mwis Facebook feed, terrible news. By the sounds of it he didn't stand a chance as he fell 100m

It would appear he was.

I have no idea what happened in this case, but if anyone is considering this route please be careful on the Eastern Traverse. It is basically a ledge that bypasses the Great Tower on the left side. It is treacherous in marginal conditions, and there is a very long drop down to the left.

I felt I had to pass this on, as it does not seem to get as much publicity as Tower Gap.

Ben was a few years below me at school and from speaking to friends/teachers, it appears he was a very able and confident climber who had taken his hobby around the globe. It just goes to show no matter how confident you are with these things, it just takes one mistake.
