At what age did he tell his parents he wanted to climb all the Munros (and presumably no other hills in the meantime?) and become the youngest to do so? Or, er, did he have no choice ...... ;)

I sincerely hope he goes back and climbs them all again so that he can savour and enjoy the experience!

(I'm firmly in the camp of those who think hillwaking is for pleasure, not a competition)

What a fantastic achievement!
With over 30% of Scottish primary school children overweight & over 15% obese, more youngsters should be taking a leaf from young Daniel's book. The enormity of what he has achieved should not be overshadowed by negative comments from those old enough to know better. Sounds like there's a bit of the green eyed monster out there  - after all wouldn't most of us love to compleat?
I've had the pleasure of walking with Daniel & Mark a number of times, and it's plain to see that Daniel loves going hillwalking with his dad.
Well done Daniel + Mark.

Quite an achievement! Well done wee fella! Come on 8 year olds the challenge is now on you

I hope he can look back in years to come and remember this experience with happy feelings. I hope it wasn't like those Dutch parents who made their daughter sail round the world alone just to get a "world record"

Wow. Incredible!
Nice to see a young lad enjoying the mountains so much. I first got into the Wainwrights when I was about 6 or 7.

Sadly I lived a long way from the hills. Well done to his father for taking him out there and keeping him going, for all the mountains. Nice too see a father and son enjoying time together out in the countryside.

Good on the lad. I certain he's enjoyed it. While it wasn't on mountains I can remember the miles I used to clock up week on week roaming the countryside as a lad so distance ought to be no problem. If he'd been forced up the hills I reckon it would have been hell in that household over the last three years. Mind you he might just be about to start tucking into three years supply of sweets dad bought to persuade him with

Well done to the young man. Good to see a youngster out and about as opposed to sitting a foot from the telly.

legs are made for walking Gammy, and loading bones makes them grow strong. As long as it doesnt cause pain can't see any problem.

We should ask someone who's attempting to break the fastest round of Munros to take a newborn baby in his rucksack to touch the top of all 282 cairns.
Try breaking that record!

Would be entirely irrelevant to record breaking stats, unless the said baby crawled alongside, thus managing the round under it's own steam!

Congrats indeed
You get the feeling these days that many kids who tell you they enjoy doing Munros may well be talking about the latest facebook app or xbox game. He now has many years to redo his favourites, perhaps different approaches plus all the other wonderful non-Munros, island hopping...good on ya lad!

In my case I told myself the above at around four times this lad's age

I have now had stern words with myself and said in no uncertain terms 'lets enjoy the hills and do the ones i like' I think I am listening .....
