The first Saturday of Spring

The first Saturday of Spring

Postby AlisonFox66 » Sat Mar 23, 2013 8:22 pm

It's past the equinox now .
Spring is sprung
Ok where's my fleece, best put another one on as well; and the soft-shell
Don't forget the winter waterproof either.
What other hazards -oh yes , snow on the roads.
So take the train

climbed a couple of hundred metres -on go the waterproof trousers , the jacket and the gaiters .
Fleece mitts just to be sure
Glad of the footprints to follow in the snow to break the trail

Quite an easy bag really .
Should be pleased

except it is Duncolm -
It felt like a winter ascent

Seriously though a big thank you to the couple ahead of me who broke the trail and for returning to the summit when I asked for my photo to be taken just below it

Whatever happenned to this weather :D

For me it was 2 fleeces and a Berghaus coat - and I wasn't even on the hills today, that was just to stand on the terraces watching the match! Never known it so cold. I would probably have been warmer on the hills as at least I'd have been moving.

Roll on summer (or what passes for it these days). Pft.

Alison,

You may well be pleased to hear that your old home town is well under snow at the moment.

The joys of spring indeed. :?

Don't understand all this wailing and gnashing of teeth about it being 'spring' and yet its cold and snowy.
I've always regarded February and March as being the coldest months in Scotland. Someone may have decided in a very tidy mood that spring started with the equinox, but nature has never paid too much attention to what the calendar says and anyone who goes up the hills especially should know that. :)

I treated it like a January day , even to the extent of being down to civilisation before 3pm

It is one area I will revisit in the snow as it is so easily accessible from the railway
I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent signposting from the station , so that the main fast road is completely avoided.
