Aonach Eagach in 2013 anyone??

Aonach Eagach in 2013 anyone??

Postby GillC » Thu May 23, 2013 2:18 pm

Hi,,I would love to take on the AE ridge this year. Anyone planning a trip that I could maybe tag along on? Never sure whether to believe the horror stories or just go up and do it on my own. (When you're on your own,,no one can hear you screeeeeeaaaaammmmmm!)

Weekends are best but could take a day off work if it suited, No real restrictions on dates.

Thanks all, Gill

This is one i'm keen to take on, but would certainly appreciate some company for this one.
I've always been apprehensive to meet up with others, but this year i've told myself to get over that.

Nothing to do with a lack of social skills or any sort of "uppity-ness" on my part; i'd just not want to the one in a group that holds others back. As for other being slower than me; that wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
Happy to plod along and enjoy the hill(s).

I live in York but can easily arrange to be back up in the Glasgow area if I have enough notice.
I have family in Cumbernauld and am based in Gartcosh when i'm up there.
Weekends are best for me.

I don't drive, so that's my only real issue. Trains / Buses are my normal mode of transport, but if someone is willing to share their car, i'm more than happy to share the fuel costs.

AE should be busy on weekend days with fine weather, so you can wander up on your own and find someone to tag along with. The scrambling isn't difficult but it is exposed in places, I think that's why some folks find it terrifying and others can't see what all the fuss is about.

Would like to do these 2. Will monitor posts and once you come up with a date i'll see if i can fit it into our calender. Weekends would be better. Not a walk i'd like to do in wet conditions though.

My only concern is that I would like to do this with someone who has possibly done it before or is technically confident enough. Ive looked into a guide, for mid-late August, but 1-1 is £120-£150, less obviously if a couple of peeps sign up...any thoughts anyone?

Im off work for the last week in Aug which would suit me but up to negotiating that,, cheers

There appears to be quite a few if us, now, who'd like to meet up for this one.
Does someone want to take a lead in offering some dates that we could all commit to / check availability for?
I'm happy to do so but I only have one week I definitely can't do.
Maybe we start of by working if mid-week or weekends suit more people?
Then narrow down possible dates?
Any thoughts?
