Suilven and Suileag Bothy

Suilven and Suileag Bothy

Postby coachmacca » Sun Jun 02, 2013 10:23 pm

Got a couple of days around Aviemore 12/13th June then staying "out" so am looking at some other ideas before heading back to Glasgow.

Suilven tops the current list (and Stac P) but can anyone give me some advice re walking in and staying at Suileag Bothy? Keen to hit both but not sure of routes etc...

Wildcamping is an option but prefer to try the bothy (will carry in fuel if I can)

At the risk of stating the obvious!: http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/ullapool/suilven.shtml
Good track to (and beyond) the bothy.

And the bothy is a great place to stay with amazing views of Suilven - but don't leave your food where the mice can get at it!

I've stopped there a few times, note that there is no fuel locally except possibly by the loch to the north of the Bothy (I found some there on one occasion)
Some pics and extra info on my TR here....

Just to day the bothy (and Suilven) were fantastic! we carried in firewood and some extra supplies to leave like firelighters, sealed sugar/hot choc etc for others and have a great night - even with the very late arrival of some fellow walkers (not sure if they were just arriving or had camped and abandoned... probably never know.

Lovely bothy - would stay again in a shot :D
