Cracking Corries.

Cracking Corries.

Postby cmarcol » Fri Jun 21, 2013 8:56 pm

Hi all,

Fairly new to this site and looking for your help!

Can anyone here recommend and identify some classic corries across Scotland with good, visible moraines? I've spent the last 6hours staring at google earth and feel a bit dizzy now  Doesn't matter where they are - they'll help me out with some uni work. Good examples would be the likes of Corrie Fee or An Teallach. Any suggestions will be really helpful and save me a lot of petrol money!

Thanks,
Cat

The Cairngorms are probably THE place to find the best post glacial features in Scotland. Here's a link to a good reference site.

Here's a link more specific to glacial deposition.

Coire of the Hundred Hills, Glen Torridon: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7691
Good examples at Drumochter Pass, Rannoch Moor and Sligachan, Skye but not really in coires.
This book has some examples with locations: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Land-Mountain-Flood-Landforms-Scotland/dp/184158357X
Or you could try searching for "moraine" here: http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php

Thank-you both. As much as I'd love to I don't have the time to go and explore everywhere.
