Smith-winram bivouac

Smith-winram bivouac

Hey folks,

Has anyone spent a night here?

Is there space for two to get a decent horizontal sleep?

Cheers,
Fraz

Hi, there's a post about it on my blog, which I'm not allowed to publicise here.
It's a bit pokey and getting in can be a tyauve if you're a bit on the chubby side, but there is room for two to sleep horizontally and to sit up inside without feeling too cramped. Have stayed there myself and was glad of it, considering the rain outside and my lack of a tent.
Now, keep quiet and don't say a word... http://cairngormwanderer.wordpress.com/2011/10/08/the-not-so-secret-howff/
There. No-one saw that, did they.

Oh, just for clarity, you did say the Smith-Winram. At Beinn a Bhuird. Because the Smith-Dey, which is in the Garbh Choire of Braeriach is an entirely different matter. It IS small. Room for contortionist troglodytes only.

Thanks cairngorm wanderer.

We found the bivouac but the floor was disgusting soggy mud. Instead there was a huge overhanging boulder near y so we bivvied under that instead. Such a fantastic location under the great corries of beinn a bhuird.

Thanks again,
Fraz
