Double Whammy

Double Whammy

Postby gammy leg walker » Sun Aug 04, 2013 7:46 pm

Been dealt a double whammy that may well mark the end of anymore hillwalking this year, first of was a meeting last Thursday at work where I was told that from this Monday I have been put on a 3 day week so cost wise from now on walking any hills was fairly unlikely, then on the Thursday night I had a long standing appointment with a consultant/surgeon who confirmed what I thought I have a Hernia and now need an operation to repair this moreover there is an 8/12 week waiting list before I get the operation in the mean time I have been advised not to do anything to strenuous hmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!,

Oh nooo! Just now you were getting back into the swing of it after the trouble with your ankle. That is very sad :(
Hope the op goes well and that you're back soon.

The hills will always be there gammy. Rest up, take it easy, and come back stronger.

Lack of work does mean lack of money but it does mean more free time at least. Find someone to share the petrol money with and make your own sannies for the trek and it shouldn't be that bad, at least not from a hillwalking perspective, hope all is ok otherwise.

The hernia I'm afraid I have nothing helpful to say...emmm... could be worse? Did that help?

Things are not so bad, I humped a large pack into Knoyart and climbed Ladhar Bheinn two months before a double hernia and the week before climbed Broadcairn, it was always the time after the operation that I was told to take it easy, so there is room for you to pick up a few hills between now and then, they don't have to be munros. Don't do what I did though, rupture your achillies the following year, then you will be p****d off, and forced into reading books! :(
