50 (more or less) things to see in the Scottish Mountains

50 (more or less) things to see in the Scottish Mountains

Postby laconic surf » Fri Sep 13, 2013 8:17 am

As it's raining and looking pretty grim this weekend thought I'd start a wee thread for when the weather is better. A friend and I were discussing last week some of the bucket list things to see or do in the Scottish mountains. It may be things such as incredible views, sites of archaeological interest, geological wonders, places of socially historical value (maybe connected to mountaineering/hillwalking ie. The Narnain boulders) or routes up mountains that the hordes miss, the list goes on.
Just a few to start off:
Claigan coral beach, Skye
Curved ridge, Buachaille Etive Mor
Shrine at Tigh nam Bodach, Glen Lyon
Clachaig Inn, Glencoe

A night in a bothy with friends and whisky. And a guitar-smashing implement like an axe. There's good kindling in a guitar. :D

Ferry trips between islands.
Bonfires on beaches as the sun goes down in the Hebrides.
A village ceilidh dance.
Fly fishing for trout then cooking them on the bothy/camp fire.

With 40000 members the hordes are here! So I couldn't possibly share any of those nuggets for fear of finding them in my favourite places.

Demolishing a venison burger at the Slig in Skye
