Glen Nevis to Kinlochleven - possible?

Glen Nevis to Kinlochleven - possible?

Postby GillC » Fri Sep 13, 2013 3:01 pm

Hi Has anyone walked or know anything about the path signposted in Glen Nevis, for Kinlochleven.?
Ive checked on here and it seems to tail off south of Sgurr an :) Lubhair, on the Ring, after climbing up the shoulder,,however,,the OS Explorer map 392, seems to show a path winding south over Coirena h-Eirghe then down to meet the WHW....

Looking to check how passable this is and how much of Lubhair you actually climb.

If I understand you well, instead of the path you refer to, walk about 200 meters further east heading to Am Bodach to the cairn where the path splits. There you can follow the path south to meet the WHW and onto Kinlochleven.
I came down that path last year after doing the ring of steall

Maps often are out of date. Sometimes they show something that's no longer there and sometimes there's a path that's not shown on older maps. Best bet is to follow the path and see where it takes you. If the path runs out, just assess the terrain shown on the map and follow the best way down to the WHW. You have a right to go more or less where you want to and don't have to follow paths.
