I have just treated myself to the new Garmin but i am struggling to transfer walks from the route planner. Do i need a program installed on my computer. I am running with windows XP.

You need to download Garmin Basecamp. then when transferring a route from the site just select (open with) Basecamp as default then it should be ok. if you have the 62s plugged in you'll see the route on the map with all the options to transfer etc
Takes a bit of getting used to, I prefer memory map (easier to use) IMO

Great device though, i love mine and so easy to use :D

I've a Garmin Etrex 20 so It's bound to be almost identical

Download the chosen route in GPX format

Plug the unit into the computer and double click on it to access the files.

There should be one called GPX

Cut & Paste the downloaded GPX file into that folder

Disconnect the unit from the computer and turn it on

You should have something there called "active routes"

Select it and your chosen route "should" be there

Thanks for the info,have managed to download Basecamp so will be playing around with it over the next few days. :D
