Circular Route - Charity Walk

Circular Route - Charity Walk

Postby Barcode » Thu Feb 13, 2014 5:52 pm

Hi all,

I haven't been on the site for a fair old while but I'm hoping some of you might be able to give me some suggestions.

I work for a mental health charity and myself and some of the folk in the office have been talking about doing a walk up in Scotland within the next few months. We are all fit, a few of them have military background so are quite capable in terms of fitness / first aid etc.

Does anyone know of any circular routes that would take 2-5 days? Something that would be challenging enough to use for a charity event.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Josh

If you are looking for hilly routes, then some options might be:
Mullardoch round
Glen Shiel round (Saddle, South Shiel Ridge, Brothers and Sisters)
Ramsay round
Cairngorm 8 tops (4000ers + Bhuird, Avon, Mheadoin).

For lower-level routes:
Cateran Trail
Glennfinnan to Inverie (return by boat + train)
Lairig Ghru - Derry Lodge - Lairig an Laoigh from Aviemore

There's been so much snow on the hills this winter that if you are planning a high level route, it might be best
to wait until June unless you are prepared to take on winter conditions!

Thanks for the reply, some great suggestions.

I did consider snow lasting a while with present conditions...think perhaps the Lairig Ghru route might be best bet...benefit is I haven't been Cairngorms way before. Going to go and read some walk reports on your suggestions and make a decision :D

Thanks
