patw, I just charge up the battery pack that comes with it, and take a spare set of double AAs fitted into the battery cradle and that more than does a weekend as long as its set to hibernate after a minute or so after you have checked where you are. and also remember to switch off at night when you are finished and not leave it on stand-by in the hibernate mode
