the old man of Storr and the storr

We just got back after a stunning walk up the Storr. The path up to the old man of Storr is very steep and busy

I would hate to see it on a weekend or holiday season with lots of ill prepared folks thinking that it would just be a short stroll wearing sandals and jeans.
However once up the cloud had lifted slightly and got great views of the old man.

We had read the other reports about walking up the Storr had decided to do our first Graham as we were half way there anyway.
In order to do this you must climb over the fence and follow the path around the back of the cliff face. Which looks as if it is preventing you from going over a cliff so do not try if you have vertigo as Debs can vouch for and once you round a small cliff face stick to the path and go straight if you are novicies like ourselves or you will have a bit of rock climbing which we did thinking it was the safest route. NOT

Once debs had calmed down we were on our way to the top,the path is very clear all the way round the cresent until you get to a plateau where it opens out onto a grassy expands and you just walk to the top. The cloud came back in and blocked our views but got a good few glimpses on the way back down

Note that the route down is not marked and you will have to scramble down the second stream that you come across and again this took a bit of bottle if you are inexperienced. But there is only 1 way to get experience!!

All in all a good day just a pity about the cloud, but it is Skye after all and its still stunning.
