the age-old question....are there coos on benarty?

I've decided to do Allermuir sans dug, so now have sights set on Benarty and Bishop . Does anyone know if there are cattle on either of these hills?

There were cows on the Bishop last time I was up there - last autumn some time.

Oh - not so good. If they are seasonal grazings they might be there again just now. Anybody been up Benarty or Bishop within the last couple of weeks?

We have met coos on Benarty. It is fine if you go up through the woods from the south, but if you go up via the paths at Vane Farm, eventually you get into a field where there have been coos, somewhere around the NT 166987. They may not be there this year. Equally, some of the routes up Bishop Hill are coo free, but if you seek to go up from the farm at Easter Balgeddie, I think I have seen coos there. Certainly, the farmer is very unkeen on you accessing the fine zig-zag footpath behind the farm to get to the hill. We cut across from behind Kinnesswood. You would be better going up the track to the weather radar, or from the north up Glen Vale.

Thanks Sgurr. Sorry for delay in replying. Just back from the Outer Hebrides where there are loads of coos, but managed various coo-less walks including Heaval on Barra.
