Black diamond and salewa quality?

Black diamond and salewa quality?

Postby doggy » Wed Jun 25, 2014 5:17 pm

I'm in the market for crampons and an ice axe for the winter. Most folk buy Grivel Munros and G10's but they're quite expensive. I've seen black diamond and salewa stuff a good bit cheaper so has anyone got anything good or bad to say about them?

Thanks.

Re Salewa - I still use an ice axe and 12 point classic crampons from Salewa around 1986 - have had to repaint the axe head and sharpen the crampons a few times but have been very happy with both

Re Black Diamond - got a raven pro axe which is shorter and lighter than the Salewa more for days when an axe may not be needed but better safe than sorry - still getting used to it being a bit shorter but also happy with it
