Beinn Mheadhonach, Argyle.
Walk commenced from the car park at the foot of Glen Etive and initially followed the ' path ' towards Beinn Trilleachan. From past experience this track is awful at the best of times but today , following yesterdays rain, it was a hellish combination of puddles, mud, knee high grass and shoulder high bracken. Progress was slow untill we reached the high point at OS 098466. We then struck off SW for Beinn Mheadhonach over pathless terrain, albeit without the long dense undergrowth but still very wet.
The day was turning out quite pleasant with log spells of sunshine and without the possible thunderous showers which were forecast. It was only about 5 Km to the summit but felt much longer. On reaching the top at the far end of a reasonably gentle and dry ridge we debated how to get back to the car.
Neither of us fancied going back the same way and when we spotted a forestry track about a kilometre and a half to the south and after consulting the map we decided it would be easier but longer to take it and return along Loch Etive
on the east side of Beinn Trilleachan. This track led us to the bridge at OS 065042 where we turned north along the old right of way beside the loch. The track was quite good for the most part until about half a km from the jetty at the end of the loch where it becme very boggy and indistinct.
It was a long day but felt very rewarding when we were finished.
