Ben Lui 4: Friday 12 (or Saturday 13) September

Ben Lui 4: Friday 12 (or Saturday 13) September

Postby Riverman » Thu Aug 07, 2014 11:23 am

Anyone want to join me for a crack at the Ben Lui 4 on Friday 12 or Saturday 13 September?

I'll be staying near Crianlarich from the Thursday night and will have a car. If someone else with a car wants to join then we could leave one of the vehicles at the end of the route at the car park on the A85 and avoid the walk back to Tyndrum.

Cheers

Seán

I did this loop in Sept 2010.

Parked car at Dalrigh just south of Tyndrum.

Long walk in past the gold mine at Cononish

My diary says 9.5 hours and I wasn't p*ssing about! Seem to remember polishing off a 16" pizza and 6 bottles of beer afterwards as a wee pick-me-up.

Great walk, good luck to all

You're right GillC

10 hours more realistic.

If your last munro is Beinn Dubhchraig then try and find a decent path off the hill. I seem to remember choosing a straight line from the summit of BD back to my car and getting bogged down in a swamp!

You can backtrack westwards from the summit of Dubhchraig and descend northwards to Cononish. Done this a number of times.

Sounds like a plan,,i see a wee dotted path on the map heading north from Dubhcraig then skirting east again down to the trees,,will see what conditions are like on the day. :D

No, that's the normal but horribly boggy route! Start off that way but keep going N down the broad ridge then descend more steeply NW-wards to the bridge over the river just E of Cononish farm, then back along the track.

Good luck GillC.

I am going to bail on the Ben Lui four. Now planning to do the easternmost 4 of the Crianlarich hills (Ben More and the other 3) on whichever of the 12th or 13th looks to have the best weather. The other day will probably be in Glencoe doing Creise and Meall a'Bhuiridh).
