Stopping gravity

Stopping gravity

Postby Yochy » Mon Aug 25, 2014 9:55 pm

When wearing waterproof trousers, the bottom of the legs eventually gets sopping wet and the water runs down my legs into my boots. If I wear gaiters the same thing happens, water finds it's way down the legs inside the gaiters and then runs down legs and yep wet feet again.
This only happens on long walks over 3 hrs, through constant rain and wet undergrowth. The odd down pour and all is ok.
Is it me or does this happen to anyone else?.

I think gaiters under waterproofs may help, however I have to say when I've been out in the rain for over 3 hrs I don't think I've ever had dry feet

Definitely, if it's raining heavily put the gaiters under the waterproofs. The water then just runs off rather than under the gaiters. My walks tend to be very long (time-wise) as I'm slow and I only once ever had wet feet and that was because I crossed the River Lair when it was almost up to my knees. BTW when it's dry I wear short gaiters over my trousers to keep the heather and bracken out of my boots.
