Just a wee wander up Bennachie today to shake the cobwebs loose, burn off some festive calories & try out the new satnav my brother & sister in law got me for my Christmas.

Unsurprisingly cold throughout & characteristically windy on summits, as well as 'interestingly' icy underfoot in parts. The few wee jolts of adrenaline as I lost traction from time to time helped keep me going.

Lots of folk up on the hill to say hello to, although a surprising number of folk in jeans (although they wore good winter jackets), or wearing cosy looking hats but no gloves. Possibly too concerned with looking fashionable I suspect.

Ach well, they will learn...

Good pics. Think that might be Tap o' Noth though in the second one rather than Ben Rinnes but difficult to tell.
Went up there last year on Boxing Day. Nothing white then but some icy patches in the dip between Rowans and Mither Tap and pretty cold before sunrise. Time for another visit soon.

Yeah, that's Tap o' Noth.Ben Rinnes is further away on the other side of that windfarm (I think it's Clashindarroch) I was up Bennachie on Friday having to hang on to the view guide on Oxen Craig to stop getting blown over!
