Hi there everyone,

I am interested in starting walking to gain fitness and lose some weight. My sister is keen walker and done many munros.

I am wanting to do some walks with my husband (who is a hell of alot fitter than me)

Could anyone recommend some good "starter" walks in the Angus area?

Welcome to WH - hope you enjoy the walking! It's a bit hard to know what to recommend without knowing your current level of fitness, but here are a few fairly easy walks:

The shorter version of this: http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/angus/loch-lee.shtml (as far as the first waterfall and back)

Head of Glen Isla: folllow http://www.walkscotland.com/walk62.htm as far as Bessie's Cairn, for example.

Hello to you , I hope you don't mind me offering a half decent walk in Glen Doll . I never tire of this one though admittedly ive done this so many times im not sure its for beginners or not :(( Get your map out and have a wee look , from the car park at Glen Doll make your way to Moulzie farm house on route to Bachnagairn , once there, there is albeit a faint one a track leading up and over the glittering skellies towards Jocks road returning to Glen Doll by way of passing Davey's bourach returning to the car park . I have done this in all weathers and still never tire of it , the scenary changes all the time , if you ever need a hand give me a shout id happily lead yourself and your man on a good day out no problem . Kind regards Graeme , just bear in mind its a long day out if your plodders like myself as im slow due to injury issues, but once done you would easily manage this on your own .
