14th/15th March - anyone interested in 2 days in the hills?

14th/15th March - anyone interested in 2 days in the hills?

Hi All,
New to this forum & to winter walking but keen to get out and get some practice! A friend and I will be up from London for the weekend looking for crampon & ice axe practice and a couple of good days out on the hills. We are pretty fit & have just done a winter skills course at Glenmore but would like to do a few walks with more experienced folks to get more confidence. Any takers?? Don't mind where - ideally leave early from Edinburgh on Saturday morning & back Sunday eve. Or 2 day trips. Or could meet somewhere further North. Pretty flexible.
Hope to hear from some of you...

Hi

That would have been very interesting, being based in Edinburgh; unfortunately my daughter is visiting from University that weeked and doesn't have walking gear there (nor does she have crampons!), so we'll be limited to pedestrian (pun intended) walks. But if on a future occasion your logistics will be similar, I'd be up for participating.

Hi Guys,

My friend and I have been keeping an eye on the weather and considering our criteria are:
snow/ice (hopefully wearing crampons)
Not too far from Edinburgh (unless we stayed over night)
Hopefully get a few summits done

I've been thinking Southern Cairngorms. Below is a few thoughts. We are totally open to other/better suggestions. Thought these might suit our criteria & experience.

http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/beinn-a-ghlo.shtml

Would be great to get a lift from Edinburgh and share costs, or we could meet somewhere en route.
Happy to find a cheap place to stay if anyone fancied 2 days.
Or do 2 day trips with whoever's keen.

Need to be at Edinburgh airport by 19:45 on Sunday so maybe a shorter walk / earlier start!

Hope to get some takers! And some suggestions if I am way off the mark...
