Dogs on the Rum Cuillin traverse

Dogs on the Rum Cuillin traverse

Postby MrMac » Sat Feb 21, 2015 1:27 am

My partner and i are looking to spend a week or so floating around the small Isles later this year and trying to put together a plan. I was wondering if anybody had any experience taking their pooch along the Rum Cuillin traverse and if so, would they recommend it? None of the pictures I've seen so far look too dangerous or treacherous but would rather have some idea of what to really expect before setting off on adventure.

Thanks

Just a thought....Some dogs, the type that dig and scrape, might be over-interested in, perhaps disturbing, the burrows used by the sea birds who nest up there especially on one part of the ridge? I have also noticed several rodent traps which also might be of interest to dogs?

Thanks very much for your response, I don't think we'll have too much of a problem with him digging/scraping or upsetting the wildlife. The rodent traps are definitely something to look out for though. What we are interested in is knowing what the terrain is like and whether or not it is actually suitable for taking the pooch along with us. Has anybody on here done this and if so, how did you get on?
