This easy-going linear coastal walk traces the coastline south from Innerbervie, passing Gourdon harbour and continuing on to Johnshaven. The return can be made by bus.

Inverbervie. Map and directions.
The walk starts from the square off the main street at the northern end of Inverbervie, where there is car parking, a bus stop and a war memorial. Head through the square, past the memorial and along High Street Close. Turn right at the bottom onto David Street, and then left at the Give Way and crossroads, following this road right down to the seafront. Turn right along the front to pass several picnic tables that look out over the North Sea and onwards by the coast along the cycleway.
The cycleway forks just before reaching the first houses at Gourdon; take the left branch that keeps nearer the sea. It soon becomes a tarred road; continue through the streets of this old fishing village, passing a small lifeboat museum, to reach the harbour, which dates back to 1820. Further on the road climbs slightly to cross a former railway bridge; leave it just before this to take a track between a white cottage and the bridge. Continue past some warehouses to reach a gate. The track forks here; officially the walk route is the left hand track but can be very muddy at first; alternatively you can take the right track initially and then head back down once past the muddy section.
After another 3.5km the walk passes a small group of houses at the Haughs of Benholm. Continue on the track ahead, soon with a drystone dyke on your right and the sea on your left. The route passes an entrance to a private school and then vehicle barrier, becoming tarred as it runs alongside Wairds Park caravan park.
Finally Johnshaven is reached; continue past the houses to reach the harbour. A right turn at this point leads up to the pub and shop, whilst opposite the former is a bus shelter for a possible return to Inverbervie.
