This day turned out to be a fine day weather wise, (sun & wind free) Infact any day there isn't low cloud and drizzle on skye has got to be considered fine regardless of how much the sun hides ha! I had planned to go up the Inn Pinn with someone this day but they said there was 40-50mph winds forecast up the tops and postponed it. So, that left me with what looked like a fine day all be it a bit gusty up the tops so I decided to do Bruach na Frithe. I started by the roadside a stones throw away from the Sligachan Hotel, I was the first car there so I was fair chuffed to have the world to myself for a while. The walk in was a lot better than I imagined, I love setting out along by a river or burn and the Allt Dearg Mor was a pleasing companion for the first part. There is a good path along by the river which makes for good going.

I decided to aim for the Fionn Choire Corrie and gained my height that way avoiding Bruachs ridge (mainly due to the forecast) There is a track upto these parts. To the west was Bruach na Frithe and to the east was Am Basteir & Sgurr nan Gillean whick looked like something out of Tolkiens Mordor....Bruach in comparison looked like their friendly wee brother from this spot.



Before I knew it I was perched like an eagle on Bruachs trip point, the views from here are just breathtaking, a spectacular view of the Cuillin Ridge.

I hung about the summit for ages as I enjoyed being here so much, being my only hill of the day I was not in a hurry to leave. Guess what..there was not a breath of wind either...the forecast was wrong so I took the way back down the way most people go up,down Bruachs crumbly old ridge.

I fair enjoyed coming down this ridge with the sun glorifying the misty isle. A wee bit care was needed here and there but my panicometer never fluttered once. Once further down I walked in a NE direction crossing the river further down to regain the path to Alltdearg House and my starting point. A really braw day indeed.
