1. Park in the main car park on the Revack Estate, a couple of miles south of Grantown-on-Spey. The Revack Estate also has gardens, a cafe and gift shop. The main walkers car park has a tourist information booth with a map of the main walking routes on the estate. From the far end of the car park take the track with the large red striped post in the middle, following the coloured arrows. For this walk you start on the yellow arrows and then follow purple markers complete the route. The track passes through pine forest and turns left uphill away from the designated dog walking area.
2. Soon keep an eye out for a turn to the right and take the less distinct route to the right following the yellow arrows. The path meanders through the woods, crossing a small wooden bridge. Turn left when the path emerges onto a track. A short way further on a faint path to the left is marked with a yellow arrow. Take this for the uphill detour to the top of Craig Revack.
3. If you have climbed to the seat and viewpoint at Craig Revack, retrace your steps downhill to the track and turn left to continue on the route. The forestry track passes through mixed woodland of pine and birch where there is a good chance of seeing red squirrels. Listen for the distinctive “scratching” sound as they scurry up and down the pine trees. Continue through the trees and pass an electricity pylon and a cross a stile to walk through a natural area of Scots Pines. Follow the woodland path through the pines and ignore the path heading off to the right to Nethy Bridge.
4. Around 150m after the route turns right to continue following the edge of the plantation there is a second Revack Estate sign on the left. Here a path, waymarked with a purple arrow, goes off to the left. Take this path which soon becomes a wider forestry track. This heads through the trees - a lochan is seen over to the left where birds can often be spotted. Just before the track emerges out of the trees keep a sharp eye out for a purple arrow which indicates where to turn left to cross a stile onto another track. Turn left to follow the track.
5. This passes through an area of silver birch trees and go through a farm gate into a sheep grazing field. Grantown can be seen below on the right. Continue straight ahead as the grassy track crosses the field. Pass through a gate and walk downhill towards Revack Lodge with the impressive walled garden on the right.
6. Before you reach the house you can turn to the left following the signs to visit the cafe, toilets and gift shop. The feeders beside the cafe regularly attract almost tame red squirrels as well as many birds. Follow the path that skirts round these buildings and return on the main drive to the car park and the start of the walk.
